Donations/Bequests
Why donate to the NESRF?
Skin diseases are very common in all age groups and have a profound effect on sufferers and their families. They have recently been shown to be the most frequent reason to make a new appointment with GPs. In spite of this, research into skin disease tends not to be a national priority and attracts very little charitable funding. Because the NESRF understands the enormous impact skin problems have on people, we aim to improve this situation with your help by promoting excellent, local research.
How do we choose which research to fund with your donations?
After a North East skin researcher submits a request for funding for a research project, it is passed to an independent and impartial scientific reviewer. They consider the value of the proposal and make a recommendation to the charity committee.
We are a small charity and believe that good research and great researchers can have humble beginnings. We usually give small grants to allow researchers to kick-start their research so they can begin to put good ideas into practice. Often our grants are used to top-up promising research that has already been started with other funds
